There is a war raging around us
Russia invaded Ukraine. The fighting, killing and all the heartache is so real. War is always the same. Some may believe the war is so far from them, so what. Many are aware of the hurting of all the people. Many organizations are sending help to the victims of this war. The churches of Christ are independent congregations. We have no earthly headquarters. Congregations do work together to help when help is needed. This is true at this time. It isn’t just one group of churches of Christ, but several are sending help to the Ukraine. War is very sad!
There is a war which is closer to us which is being fought daily. God through Paul describes this for us. When you feel this war remember everyone is in the same war. Remember there is a way to win. Victory is in Jesus. Romans 7:21-25 (NKJV) “I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God — through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.”
The spiritual war that all are fighting is within us. Other people are fighting the same war. The only way to win in with the help of God. We are fighting against “spiritual wickedness in heavenly places” The devil is the enemy and he is trying to win the war within each individual.
God promises when we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. (James 4:8). Jesus promises “I will be with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20).
Physical war is terrible. Spiritual war is terrible. In both kinds of war some people despair and give up. Please do not give up. The question is asked “If God is for us who can be against us.” (Romans 8:31). You know the answer, no one can stand against God. God is stronger than the devil. Draw near to God in faithful obedience.
