Do we want justice?
People need the grace and mercy which comes through Jesus Christ. Justice is receiving what you deserve. Some people think they are good enough as they are without becoming a Christian. They are seeking justice!
“The soul who sins shall die.” Ezekiel 18:20 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
God knows there is no one who is sinless of themselves. The punishment for sin is death (separation from God). All who sin and receive justice will be cast into hell!
The verses around Romans 3:23 explain that God has made a way for people to receive mercy and not justice. “Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,” Romans 3:24-25.
Forbearance/mercy of God is given to mankind through the sacrifice of Jesus upon the cross.
When a person desires justice from God, he is saying he did not need Jesus to die for his sins.
Forgiveness and mercy comes through Jesus. We must be in Jesus to receive this blessing.
One gets into Jesus by obeying the gospel plan as given in the Bible. One must believe (Hebrews 11:6; John 8:24). One must repent (Acts 17:30; Luke 13:1-5). One must confess that Jesus is God’s son (Matthew 10:32-33; Acts 8:37). One must be baptized (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-4). One must live faithful until death (Revelation 2:10; 1 Corinthians 9:27).
Which do you wish to receive from God, justice or mercy? Since there is none righteous, no not one (Romans 3:10), justice for you would demand that God cast you into hell. Mercy received from God gives you eternal life!
