Rhudy Jean Slaughter, 81-year-old resident of Ellsinore, Missouri, departed this life Friday, March 15, 2027, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

She was born April 22, 1942, in Briar, Missouri, to the late Lyman and Laura “Peggy” (Hubbard) Tucker.

Jean was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She also liked the challenge of most any type of puzzle including crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Jean attended First Assembly in Ellsinore.

On May 19, 1977, Jean married Billy K. Slaughter of Ellsinore, and he survives. Also surviving are her children, James Scott of Ellsinore and Rhonda Inurrigarro of DeSoto, Texas; stepchildren, Jeff Slaughter of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Christopher Slaughter of Dexter, Missouri, and Dina Slaughter of Elgen, Oklahoma; a sister, Rowena Hobbs of Poplar Bluff; and grandchildren, Kody, Kelsi, James III, Phillip, Marie, Briana, Jaden, Cory, Nathan, John, Caleb, Kristen, and April.

Jean was preceded in death by a son, Steven Scott, and a sister, Shirley Tucker.

Visitation will be held beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Scott Reynolds will be officiating, and burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
