Loyd C. “Sonny” Warren, 85, of Winter Garden, Florida, passed away Monday, Nov. 13, 2023.

Loyd was born Sept. 30, 1938, to Loyd C. Warren Sr. and Altha (Mayberry) Warren in Fisk, Missouri. He married Eugenia “Jeanie” Robertson in 1959.

Loyd graduated from Broseley High School in 1957. He went on to study engineering for one year at the University of Missouri in Rolla. Loyd worked at the Poplar Bluff Savings & Loan before founding Warren-Brasher Construction. He moved to Florida in 1977, where he and Jeanie owned a citrus retail store and citrus mail order business in Orlando for 25 years. Loyd was a self-taught engineer and inventor, even obtaining a patent for a fresh orange juice extractor.

Loyd served in the Missouri National Guard for seven years. He was active in the Poplar Bluff Jaycees and Lions Club. He was a member of the Florida Gift Fruit Shippers Association. He also served on the board of directors of Orlando Lutheran Towers. Loyd enjoyed international travel and was a lifelong jazz music enthusiast.

Loyd is survived by his wife, Jeanie; daughter, Carla (Michael) Campbell; son, Clark Warren; sister, Barbara Warren Mattingly; brother, Gail Warren; two grandsons, Justin Warren and Evan Campbell

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry L. Warren.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
