Butler County Public Water Supply District number 3 customers are asked to prepare for their water to be off several hours Monday, Feb. 27.

District Superintendent Brian Williams said the district will be “rerouting the main line that serves the customers. We have to do that because of the installation of the new building so we’re not fitting the main into the foundation of the new water plant.”

The new water plant hopefully is going to be delivered in March, Williams said.

Delivery date depends on the manufacturer and the weather, Williams added, “mainly, the weather.”

Williams recommends since the water is going to be shut off “folks should make sure they have adequate water to drink and run up water they’ll need for the day.”

The system is going to be shut down at 9 a.m. Monday and “hopefully, if everything goes well, it will be back on within four to five hours,” he said.

Williams said, “once the new water plant is up and going, it’ll be more efficient and produce better water. It’s been in the works for about two years, but we just broke ground on it about three weeks ago.”

There will be a boil water advisory until the water is tested.

“We’ll take the test probably Tuesday morning, get them sent to Jefferson City to the Department Natural Resources. Hopefully, we will have some results back by Wednesday,” Williams said.

The water district has 1,050 connections, which covers from Broseley north to Rombauer and west to Baskey School Road, which is county road 559.
