— Catt Vaughn Opening Reception, 6-8 p.m. Jan. 6. WHERE Margaret Harwell Art Museum. COST Free. WHAT A gathering with artist Catt Vaughn at the opening of her painting exhibit at the museum.

— Library For All, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Jan. 12. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library Main Branch. COST Free. WHAT Adults with disabilities and their caregivers are invited to make crafts, create art, play games, explore the library and enjoy music. Registration is required. — Saving and Budgeting for Teens, 1-2 p.m. Jan. 12, 19, 26. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library Main Branch. COST Free. WHAT A financial literacy class meeting on Thursdays, held in partnership with Sterling Bank.

— Rubber Duckie Day, 10:30 a.m. Jan. 13. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library Main Branch. COST Free. WHAT Kids are invited to read and sing about rubber duckies, and discuss bathtub safety.

— Alumni Art Exhibit submission deadline, 4 p.m. Jan. 13. WHERE The Tinnin Center. COST Not listed. WHAT Alumni from TRC are invited to contribute to a special art show. The show is open to students of any TRC class, art classes are not required. Submission forms are available at the Tinnin Center. — Battle in the Bluff, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 14 WHERE Black River Coliseum COST $10 per person WHAT Local cheer programs battle it out for top spot in Southeast Missouri.

— Missouri Concealed Carry Permit Course, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 14 WHERE Black Belt Academy WHAT This course meets the requirements to apply for a Missouri Concealed Carry Permit. It will cover firearms safety, maintenance and storage. It will discuss the laws that pertain to the use of force and weapons. The class will conclude with a live fire practice and test. — Book Buzz Club, 5 p.m. Jan. 19 WHERE The Wine Rack WHAT The theme for January is “New year, new you.” WHAT You could try a new genre, read about a new hobby, or find a different book that you think fits the theme. Event is hosted by the Poplar Bluff Municipal Library.

— Bootheel Bluegrass Festival, 7-10 p.m. Jan. 19-21 WHERE Bavarian Halle, Fruitland, Missouri WHAT 3 fun days filled with Bluegrass music, multiple bands, vendors and fun

— Ag Connect 2023, Jan. 20-21. WHERE Black River Coliseum. COST $5 admission passes and $60 for all access passes.
