Christmas events scheduled throughout December

Local churches and religious organizations are holding Christmas events throughout the month of December.

• FRSH WATR Worship Night will be held 7-9 p.m. Dec. 9 at Rodgers Theatre. This is a night of worship for all people. Expect to be uplifted and encouraged as you join in worship with other believers from across the community. All concession stand proceeds go to supporting the Rodgers Theatre.

• FIRST CHURCH OF GOD, 3482 S. Westwood Blvd., will host a youth night, 5:30-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, Dec. 18, Dec. 25. FC Students is for grades seventh to 12. Youth will gather for fellowship, games and other activities.

• FIRST CHURCH OF GOD will host Cookies with the Clauses from 10 a.m.-noon Dec. 10. Take your own picture with Santa and Mrs. Clause, decorate Christmas cookies, and enjoy some hot chocolate. There will be other games and activities too. Visitors will hear the real Christmas story from Mrs. Clause.

• AGEE FELLOWSHIP, 38 County Road 525, Poplar Bluff, will host a Christmas dinner at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Visitors are asked to bring a veggie, salad, dessert and/or help with clean up after the dinner.

• GREATER VISION WORSHIP CENTER, 202 N. Bedford, Puxico, will host the Puxico Christmas Music and Comedy Show at 4 p.m. Dec. 11, with music from the Puxico High School Band and the Hands of Praise. Cost is $5. Proceeds benefit the Puxico Band Booster Club.

• BETHEL CHAPEL CHURCH will present a Christmas program at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. The church is located at the intersection of Butler County Road PP and Highway PP. Snacks will be served after the program.

• PUXICO FIRST GENERAL BAPTIST CHURCH, located at 125 S. Turnbaugh St., will have a play called “The Real Story,” at 7 p.m., Dec. 14. Refreshments will be provided after the event.

• NEW DAY MINISTRY Feed and Seed will be from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at 703 Franklin St., Poplar Bluff. Those attending are asked to use the side gray door and those attending will receive one pack per household on a first come first served. • LIVING NATIVITY, presented by First Midwest Bank of Dexter, 819 W. Business Hwy. 60. The Free event will include actors and animals, hot cocoa and a visit from Santa. It is open from 3-6 p.m. Dec. 15.

• WESTWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH, 419 County Road 5231, 7 p.m. Dec. 17 and 10:15 a.m. Dec. 18. The Westwood Baptist Church Choir and Drama Team will present “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Come hear the story of how a grumpy elderly man, who claims to be an atheist, comes to Christ through the witness of a child. Pastor Steve Proctor will perform with the drama team and the WBC Choir will present the story in song.

• BLUFF FIRST, 2518 Barron Road, will host Candlelight Christmas services, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Dec. 24. The services are planned in the morning to accommodate travel schedules. Songs and prayer are planned. Worshipers of any age are welcome.
