Main Street library to reopen Monday

Friday, November 12, 2021

Poplar Bluff Municipal Library reopens on Monday, Nov. 15, at the Main Street branch, and will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Ridgel branch, which remained open, will keep its hours of 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

“I appreciate everyone’s patience,” said Sue Crites Szostak, director.

Due to an individual testing positive for COVID, staff were exposed to the virus. Following CDC guidelines, staff had to be tested for COVID and could not return to work until test results were available. This reduced the staffing making it impractical to keep the Main Street branch open.

“I am thankful that we had a branch allowing us to continue to provide services,” Szostak said.

Patrons’ holds are waiting for pick up when Main Street opens. No holds were removed or sent back to lending libraries.

All scheduled story times, book club meetings and other programming events resume the week of Nov. 15, including the 2 p.m. dinosaur story time on Nov. 16 at Ridgel.
