Food preservation classes coming to Butler County

The University of Missouri Extension (MU Extension) in Butler County is offering two Food Preservation Workshops featuring various home canning techniques and recipes.

Classes Include:

Making Jams and Jellies, 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15.

This class will focus on some canning basics and demonstrate how to make and safely preserve jams and jellies using the steam canning technique. Pre-Registration is required by July 12.

Canning Pickles, 1 p.m. July 15.

Participants will learn how to safely can pickles using an electric boiling water canner. Pre-Registration is required by July 12.

Both food preservation workshops will be held at the Butler County Extension Office. There is a $15 fee for each workshop to cover the cost of food and materials.
