A second mass vaccination event will be held Friday, Feb. 12 in Poplar Bluff, and information will be released late Friday, Feb. 5, concerning a link and toll-free phone number for Missouri residents to sign up.

Registration is required and the event is limited to the number of vaccines available. Once those registrations are filled, registration will be closed, local officials said.

Registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, according to officials. A toll-free number will be available for those who cannot go online.

Those who received their first shot at the Jan. 22 event, will need to be registered for one of the Feb. 12 spots to receive a shot that day.

According to local officials, “the local health department, National Guard and state Department of Health and Senior Services have been busy all this week to improve the registration process. The plan now is to go live sometime late Friday afternoon with a registration system.”

“We were first in the state to get the guard unit to come provide the vaccinations,” officials said. “We also are the first using this new registration system. That’s why it’s taking a little longer to work out a couple of technology issues. We’re thankful that we were able to get this first, and we’re looking forward to getting this second mass vaccination clinic in as well.”

“We encourage individuals to be on the lookout for the release of the website and the phone number Friday afternoon once it has been activated.”

As soon as the Daily American Republic receives additional information about the event, the information will appear in the newspaper, on the paper’s website and Facebook.

At this time, a location for the second event also has not been announced.
