Election a reminder of 1960 candidates

Tuesday, November 27, 2018

This election coming up, and going to see the candidate, has caused me to remember going to see the candidates in Connecticut in 1960. We were living in Connecticut then and I asked the children if they would like to go to the rallies, and see the candidates, they said, "Why not." So we went to see them.

We saw (John) Kennedy first. Don really like Kennedy. Could not stand for Grady or I to say anything down about Kennedy. When Kennedy was killed, Don cried and cried. Don was very young when that happened. Then we seen (Henry) Lodge and (Lyndon) Johnson. We have been on Johnson farm in Texas. I said we saw (Richard) Nixon. But Don said we didn't see Nixon. Don said he was going to Cape to see Trump. But has back out, saying he was not going to get in that crowd. I told him he was being a chicken. I cannot go as it is hard for me to walk. I use a walker and a wheel chair a lot.

Do not want to fall again. When I fell the last time I broke my hip. Took me a couple a days to get over that.

So many people do not vote. I tell them that if they do not vote they cannot complain about things. The report is that this year there will be more votes than has been for years. We shall see.

I just received a phone call from Trump asking for my vote. Of course I will vote. Even though I would rather stay at home. Don has to put a box for me to stand on so I can get in the car. Don never complains about helping me.....Wants me to keep on going. So I shall.
