Poplar Bluff's

toxic darkness

How clean is the air and water in P.B? When I grew up in Poplar Bluff our air and water was clean and pure.

We even had lightning bugs.

Now we now live in a toxic darkness in Poplar Bluff. Sorta like China! What has happened?

The lowlands, that surround Poplar Bluff. The trees, that give us oxygen are gone. Replaced by farm land, in which has greatly improved our economy. You call that a trade off?

Fertilizer, dust from plowing and harvesting crops. Burning off the fields, at harvest time.

Big trucks, freight trains, plus jumbo jets overhead.

Then there is the local cars and trucks in town. Not to mention all of the cigarette smokers.

"Cough, cough, cough."

Bad R-1 had to

go out of town

It's odd that somebody from out-of-town fills the qualifications for superintendent rather than somebody who has been associated with the system or been a high school principal and knows more about the school business. Thank you.

DAR is now

saving trees

DAR -- no more Monday paper. I don't agree with the little bitty notice put in Sunday's paper. It should have been a front page article explaining why you are not going to be doing this any more. I don't think the rates should be the same. We're going to be getting one less paper than when we took out our subscription, but I do have to put hats off to ya! Thank God somebody is thinkin' about the trees. Paper is made from trees. What a way to save a blessed tree that is part of nature. Hats off to you for that part!

Bad experience

with the library

I was shocked at the recent experience I had at the public library. As a local business owner and mother I used to frequent the public library often. But wow! The staff used to be knowledgeable and courteous, now they are downright unhelpful and they're extremely rude! And I assume that comes straight from the current director as my recent conversation with her was in a word ....... unpleasant!
