To the Editor:

Every day is Thanksgiving Day for me. If I can get up make my coffee and drink it. It is Thanksgiving Day for me. Something I thought often of is, when people start to mention the many things then are thankful for, wonder how many start by saying they are thankful that they are living in the United States of America.

As I have seen the news lately, seems there is so much unrest, and terrible things happening in so many parts of the world lately. Oh how my heart goes out to the children. There are millions of children who have known nothing but war in their short lives. Oh how I wish I could o more than just pray. I just cannot stand to hear anyone grip about things. And I do tell people to quit gripping. If you do not like the way your life is going, do something about it. Go and live somewhere else for awhile. Maybe then you will start to know how good you have it here in the good old United States of America.

I volunteer at the Child Concern. It is almost unbelievable how many boxes of food we give away every day. I do not think there are many countries that do this. Not any of the countries that I have lived in do this I know.

This is the way that I start to give thanks. First I can worship or not worship, as I please. I am more than thankful that at 88 years old, I know who I am and where I am. I have worked in nursing homes, where there were many people who were not 80, but didn't know who they were and where they were. I do not have any heart or blood pressure problems. I have often wondered if my up beat attitude and always looking on the bright side of things have helped my health to be so wonderful.

Many thanks go to our military. That is another hard job. We should be so thankful that many young people like that job. When I see one of our military, I give them a hug and say "Thanks."

Many thanks go to the long haul truck drivers. That is a terrible job, in many ways. Two of the main ones is, away from home, then truck driving is hard on the body. How many people think of that when they go to the grocery store. I think so many people do not give that one thought. Like that food just walked to the grocery store, and got on the shelves. We have a choice. Always so good. Just thought of this, I had to shift the bags of flour I purchased while in Saudia Arabia to get the bugs out. No kidding!!

We are so spoiled, with our T. V. phones. I had neither when overseas. Could have had T.V. while in Africa, but was only on in the afternoon and was censored. I am thankful for these things, and I enjoy so much.

These are just a few things that we have to be thankful for. Could go on and on. So just be THANKFUL and happy every day.
