Mary Lerma McMillian of Springfield, Missouri entered the Kingdom of Heaven at 6:16 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024 surrounded by family.

Mary was born Jan. 27, 1949 to Ignacio “Felix” Lerma and Luz Gonsalez Lerma. She married Donnie Lee McMillian Sr. Nov. 11, 1972. Mary and Don owned and operated Plumber’s Supply (later Janitorial Supply) in Poplar Bluff, Missouri from 1986 until 2008. During this time, they were active members of Memorial Baptist Church.

Mary and Don were married for 50 years before he preceded her in death last year. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Luz Lerma, and her brothers, John Lerma, Felix Lerma, and Valentine Lerma.

She is survived by her children, Donnie McMillian Jr., Timothy McMillian and wife, Catrina, Amber McMillian and wife, Catherine, and two grandchildren, Madison and Alex, all of Springfield.

She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Anita Zavala and husband, Manuel, of Brownsville, Texas; Juanita Villeda and husband, Ernesto, of Winter Haven, Florida; Maria Lerma of Risco; Julian Lerma and wife, Jessica, of Portageville; Erlinda Wilson of Poplar Bluff; Alfredo Lerma of Avon Park, Florida; Jesse Lerma of Groveland, Florida; Guadalupe Contreras of Fargo, North Dakota; Reynalda Lerma, Isabel Ross, Lenora Stacy, and Joseph Lerma, all of Malden, Missouri. Mary was also the aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Mary loved reading her Bible, cooking for her family, and spending time with her kids and especially her grandkids.

Her homegoing celebration will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church in Malden. A graveside service will be held immediately afterward at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
