Lekesha Nicole Moss “Sunshine”, 48 , of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away March 22, 2024, completely unexpected, and her family and friends are profoundly saddened.

Lekesha was born Jan. 19,1976, to Marie Jones and James Earl McIntyre in Hayti, Missouri. After Lekesha graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1995, she went on and received her associate degree in general education from Three Rivers Community College. She started her career at SE Missouri Residential Services as a direct care support staff, working 22 plus years with the department of mental health.

In 1994 Lekesha met Lonnie Moss Sr. at high school and she and Lonnie married in 1999 and began to build a life together. The two have three children, Lee Andrea Jones, Lee Aaron Jones, and Lonnie Moss Jr., which she loved dearly and 10 grandchildren that were the sparkle in her eye. Lekesha was an exemplary mother and human being. She embodied the best qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her grandmother, husband, children, grandchildren, entire family, and countless others.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Lonnie Moss Sr.; three children, Lee Andrea Jones, Lee Aaron Jones, Lonnie Moss Jr.; 10 grandchildren, Alantris Allen, Amira Allen, Juel Hightower, Juliana “Betty” Hightower, Ondra Jackson, Ariane Jones, Audi Jones, Hzolah Jones, Olivia Moss and Leilani Moss; eight sisters, Kenyetta McFarland, Shanika (Travis) Shavers, Tamara (William) Taylor-Brown, Eureka (Kofie) Cook, Corinthia Patterson, Danielle Wilburn, Mary Tilman, Alyssa McIntyre; seven brothers, Rodney McFarland, Derrick McFarland, Jeffrey McFarland, Jamala Patterson, Jamel (Jennifer) Patterson, AJ Burnette, and Malik McIntyre; two sisters-in-law, Rhonda Moss, and Tina (Dennis) Washington; mother-in-law, Alice Moss; father-in-law, Lonnie L. Nelson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather Willie Earl Jones, brother Marcus McFarland, and grandson Julius Hightower.

There will be a wake from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, at New Life Deliverance Temple Church, 4026 S. Ward Ave. Caruthersville, Missouri 63830. The funeral will then begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow in Morgan Ridge Cemetery in Caruthersville. There will then be a repast at the Caruthersville Community Center. Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff are handling arrangements.
