Poplar Bluff police are searching for three suspects at large after a high-speed chase Monday morning.

Arkansas Police Chief Blaine McClung of the Corning Police Department said officers attempted a traffic stop for speeding in the early morning hours on the west side of the city. The suspect vehicle failed to stop and a chase northbound on Highway 67 ensued, reaching speeds in excess of 130 mph.

A Poplar Bluff Police Department press release said the department was notified at 5:06 a.m. that the pursuit would enter the Poplar Bluff area. Upon responding, PBPD discovered the vehicle had crashed on Highway PP east of the Highway 67 bypass, and four occupants fled on foot.

McClung said two guns were recovered from the vehicle.

PBPD searched the area and captured one suspect after a foot chase: Nathaniel Garrett, 21, of Florissant. He was taken into custody.

The remaining three suspects are described as three Black males in their early 20s. One has long hair, and another is wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants. There is no description of the remaining suspect.

They should be considered armed and dangerous. Residents are asked to notify law enforcement if they see subjects matching these descriptions.

In a message to parents, the Poplar Bluff School District said it put the Early Childhood Center and Kindergarten Center on lockdown “out of an abundance of caution” on Monday and had additional security. The schools occupy one campus near Highway PP.

“At this time, there is no immediate threat to our schools,” the message emphasized.
