Gwendolyn Drury, 97, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away March 4, 2024, at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff.

Gwen was born Sept. 16, 1926, to Jessie and Lilly (Hardin) Stanley in Poplar Bluff. She married Paul V. Drury Jr. Aug. 28, 1948, also in Poplar Bluff.

Gwen was a member of Sacred Heart Church of Poplar Bluff for nearly 70 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, and gardening. Gwen worked as a receptionist for many years at McPheeter’s Clinic. She later worked as a clerk for the State of Missouri Division III for 20 years before retiring. Many would say Gwen was a hard worker, loyal friend, and devoted family woman. She always made sure everyone was fed and felt welcome at her home. Gwen was a talented cook and had many signature dishes she will forever be remembered for. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.

Gwen is survived by three children, John (Ann) Drury, Debbie (Tom) Cash, and Paula (Steve) Rhodes; five grandchildren, Mary (Lance) Beasley, Richard Paul (Kim) McBride, Michelle (Aaron) Bass, Rebecca (Ted) Henry, and Brian Sisk; 11 great-grandchildren, Zoey, Taylor, Ava, Kolyn, Hannah, Sidney, Lucy, Annie, Grace, Halle, and Elise; close family friend, whom she considered a son, Bob Whelan; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul V. Drury Jr; daughter, Mary Drury; two granddaughters, Laurel McBride, and Wylie Drury Brown.

Visitation will be held from 10 -11 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff. The funeral mass will follow beginning at 11 a.m. with Father Paul McLoughlin and Deacon David Farris officiating. Gwen will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
