Tuesday, March 5, 2024

Karen Lavette (Stovall) Dodd, 66, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Feb. 24, 2024, in her home.

Karen was born Sept. 21, 1957, in Charlottesville, Virginia to Fred and Lena (Monroe) Stovall. On Sept. 6, 1979, after a one-year courtship, she married the love of her life, Thomas Dodd, after which their family became complete with two sons and one daughter.

Karen began studying God’s word in 1987 and was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness two years later Jan. 7, 1989. As a Jehovah’s Witness, Karen spent the rest of her life spreading the word of God through door-to-door ministry, auxiliary pioneering, and Bible study. Ministering with her spiritual brothers and sisters always brought her great joy.

Karen will always be remembered for her generosity, compassion, and soft heart. She was known as many things: wife, mother, sister, grandmother (Nana), friend, and confidant. She touched many people throughout her life. Personally, Karen enjoyed shopping, eating great food, reading the Bible, and visiting with her children and grandchildren. Additionally, she possessed a remarkable talent for fixing things and loved to sketch.

Those she leaves to cherish her loving memory are: her husband of 44 years, Thomas Dodd of Poplar Bluff; two sons, Steven (Lamont) Stovall and Gabriel Dodd, both of Poplar Bluff; daughter, Amber Dodd of Dallas, Texas; mother, Lena (Monroe) Stovall of Charlottesville, Virginia; sisters, Lisa (Stovall) White and Fredina Stovall both of Charlottesville,Virginia; two brothers, Freddy Stovall and Jimmy Stovall both of Charlottesville, Virginia; three grandchildren. Taylor Rice, Jace Dodd, and Leland Dodd all of Poplar Bluff; one fur baby, Bailey Dodd of Poplar Bluff; and many nieces and nephews.

Karen is preceded in death by her father, Fred Stovall.
