John Austin

John Austin, 80, of Corning passed away Monday, Feb, 19, 2024 at Corning Therapy and Living Center.

Mr. Austin was born Jan. 29, 1944 in Jonesboro. He retired from John Deere after 48 years. He was an avid reader of mysteries and history. John loved spending time with his family. He was a member and deacon of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Corning.

On Sept. 20, 1963, he married Dianna Sue Milburn. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. Other survivors include their daughter Kelly Joplin of Grandin, Missouri; grandchildren, Shelby Cox and Scott Joplin; step-great-grandchildren, Derek Joplin, Brianna Grisham, Destiny Cox and Cheyenne Wilson; step-great-great-grandchildren, Zuriyah Wilsong, Connor and Freya Joplin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna (Bolt) Austin; stepmother, Anna Jane Austin; brother, Jim Austin; half-brother Larry Austin; and step-grandchild, Shannon Brandon.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday Feb. 21, 2024 at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at noon with Bro. Bryan McDade officiating. Burial will be at Corning Cemetery.
