Monday, February 12, 2024

Ronald Ray Emmons, 69, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born Oct. 23, 1954, to Mac and Vera (Schaeffer) Emmons in Dexter, Missouri. He married Karen Collins June 21, 1980, in Poplar Bluff.

Ron was a hardworking man who spent many decades in the logging industry as the owner and operator of Emmons Lumber Company. Later in life, he slowed down to enjoy more time relaxing with family. Ron always had a competitive spirit and thoroughly enjoyed sports. If his grandkids were playing, you can bet Ron was there cheering them on; rather it was baseball, basketball, soccer, or a dance recital he was always there. When Ron wasn’t watching or attending a sporting event, he was on Current River fishing, gigging, or playing horseshoes. He also enjoyed deer hunting and spending time outdoors. His greatest joys in life were his kids and grandkids.

Ron is survived by his mother, Vera Emmons; wife, Karen Emmons; brother, Jerry Emmons; two daughters, Erika (Brad) Smith and Vanessa (Ryan) Adams; four grandchildren, Brady, Bren, Pierce, and Ella; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Mac Emmons.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-noon Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at noon with Pastor Jason Jordan officiating. Burial will take place at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services is proud to serve the family and friends of Mr. Ronald Ray Emmons.
