Judith Whitener

Mrs. Judith (Judy) Lorene Whitener passed peacefully with family present and holding her hand Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at the age of 84.

Mrs. Whitener was born Sept. 27, 1939, to Charles and Grace (Hunsaker) Thorn in Poplar Bluff. She married Warnie Yuell Whitener Sept. 14, 1957.

Judy was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She had a heart of Gold, putting God and Family above herself. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always had her arms open for a hug. She will be loved and remembered.

Judy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Debra Whitener of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren, Jamie Attwood, Christina Ehlinger, Jennifer Strickland (George), Michael Lowry and Matthew Lowry (Courtney); seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warnie Whitener; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Michael Lowry of Yukon, Oklahoma; siblings, Charles (Juanita) Thorn, Loudean (Lloyd) Osbourne, Paul Thorn and Mary (Oliver) Hudson.

Visitation will be held from 6 -7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Graveside service will be held the following day, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with grandson, Rev. Matthew Lowry officiating.
