Marie Jameson

Let me tell you about the incredible Marie Jameson, born Nayoma Marie Burkhart Jan. 12, 1948, to Edgar and Edna Burkhart in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She grew up with 13 siblings and a heart of gold. The love of her life was Kenneth Jameson, with whom she shared over half a century of wedded and creative bliss. Together they raised two daughters, Julia Jameson Barton and Donna Jameson both of whom found their own happily-ever-afters and three fur babies: Frisky, Calie and Tiger. Marie gained two sons-in-law, Chad Barton and Thomas Lodge; granddaughter, Brittany Barton Parish (husband Trevor Parish); great-granddaughter, Kylee Parish.

Marie’s career began as a nanny for two boys Kevin and Keith, which allowed her to pursue her passion for cosmetology and housekeeping later on. Her artistic flair was infectious, and she passed it down to her daughters, family and friends. Kenny and Marie retired to Versailles, Missouri, where she could focus on her love for ceramics, gardening, swimming, wildlife and of course, Elvis, gospel, country, and old-school rock-n-roll. She was one groovy lady, with a collection of vinyl records, and a knack for sledding in the snow (even though she detested the cold!).

Despite facing some health issues in her last few years, Marie never lost her creative spark. She was always chattering away about her latest projects with her husband or the ones they were going to tackle next. She left us with memories that will last a lifetime, and I have no doubt that she’s up in heaven, surrounded by loved ones, creating something beautiful.

There is a family visitation starting at 1 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, Saturday Jan. 27, 2024. Public visitation is 1:30-2 p.m. The funeral service will start at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sparkman Cemetery.
