Anthony Fry

Anthony “Tony” Carl Fry, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mr. Fry was born March 14, 1935, in Grassy, Missouri, son of the late Eathel Scott.

He proudly served in the United States Army for 20 years. Tony had been a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Poplar Bluff for 24 years.

On Oct. 23, 1999, he married Rita Gibbs Fry. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons: Richard David (Amber) Fry of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Joe (Sharon) Leach of Casey, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Laura, Sean, Nicholas, Patrick, Kyle, Katie, Jonah and Adrian; two great-grandchildren: Wyatt Anthony and Olivia Grace; and one brother: Richard Dale (Ruth) Scott of Williamsville, Missouri.

In addition to his mother, Tony was also preceded in death by two sons: Anthony Carl Dean Fry, Jr. and Timothy Fry; and two siblings: Pauline Prince and Willie Neal Scott.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Justin Sponaugle officiating. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery at Broseley. Condolences: www.whitesandersfuneralhome.com.
