Winfred Ahrent

Winfred Ray Ahrent, 79, of Corning, Arkansas, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2024 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Winfred was born Jan. 10, 1944, in Corning. He was the son of Edward Carl Ahrent and Ellereda Deterding Ahrent.

Winfred graduated from Corning High School in 1962. Following high school, he attended business college in Little Rock, Arkansas. After graduating from college, he returned to Corning and was employed at Clay County Electric Co-op, where he remained until retirement. Throughout his life, Winfred enjoyed traveling, especially by motorcycle. He visited many states and enjoyed a trip to Canada. He also had a passion for assembling computers and televisions. Winfred was a life-long, faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, in Corning.

Winfred is survived by his sisters, Alma Lee Ahrent Powell and her husband, Charles, of Poplar Bluff, and Marilyn Ahrent Nance of Topeka, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.

Winfred was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Earl Edward Ahrent and Dale Richard Ahrent.

Services will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Corning, Arkansas Saturday, Jan.20, 2024, officiated by Pastor Jon Bischof. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - noon and funeral service will follow at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be directed to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or a donation of choice in Winfred’s name.
