Phillip Ray Barker, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at his home.

Phillip was born July 7, 1947, to Robert and Fannie Barker in Poplar Bluff. He married Brenda Bloodworth Jan. 12, 1966, also in Poplar Bluff.

Phillip was a longtime member of the Three Rivers Shrine Club of Poplar Bluff. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #153 and held the title of Second Vice Commander. He became a journeyman lineman in 1966 and later became an electrical engineer, retiring from Sach’s Electric in 2014. During his electrical career, he was a member of the IBEW Local #2. Phillip was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening, piddling outdoors, and listening to music, especially the blues. He was quite a prankster and got a kick out of scaring others when the opportunity presented itself. Phillip never missed a chance to make those around him laugh and smile.

Phillip is survived by his two daughters, Angie (Tim) Pace and Mendy (Stance) McCafferty; three grandchildren, Alyssa Rae Ferguson, Bobby Ray Pace, and Samson Phillip McCafferty; special friend, Larry “Cornbread” Evans; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Fannie Barker; wife of 38 years, Brenda (Bloodworth) Barker.

Visitation will be from 10 -11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral will follow beginning at 11 a.m. with family member, Jim Carrier officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the American Cancer Society.
