Ronald Gene Harris Jr., 69, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at Memory Lane in Dexter, Missouri.

Ron was born Jan. 29, 1954, to Ronald and Ruth (Smoot) Harris Sr. in Poplar Bluff.

Ron was of the Baptist faith. He worked for United States Postal Service for 47 years, retiring Jan. 1, 2020. He was Postmaster at Van Buren, Qulin, and Wappapello, Missouri. In his spare time, Ron enjoyed all things golf. He also liked to bowl and play other sports. When his boys were younger, he coached their basketball and baseball teams. He and Sharon also coached Gena’s summer softball team for one year. Ron’s greatest joy in life was spending time with Sharon and his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by the love of his life for 14 years, Sharon Meadows; two sons, John (Heather) Harris and James (Paulina) Harris; daughter, Gena Marie Meadows; two brothers, Terry Harris and Rick (Kim) Harris; sister, Tammy Jordan; three grandchildren, Savannah, Gabriel, and Malakai; three nieces, Chelsea, Cassidy, and Emma; nephew, Caleb; special friends, Denny Jones, Murray Hammond, Kay Ladyman, and Nate Newman; along with numerous extended family members and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Del Henn.

Visitation will be held from 3 -4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at 4 p.m. with cousin, Larry Howdeshell Jr. officiating.
