Deborah “Debbie” Elaine Kirkman, 72, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Saturday Dec. 30, 2023 at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. She was born Nov. 27, 1951 in Poplar Bluff, daughter of the late Homer and Lois Brandt (née Brawner).

Debbie worked at First Midwest Bank in Poplar Bluff for nearly 40 years before retiring in 2020. She also worked in the church nursery at First Baptist Church where she had been a lifetime member. She was an avid quilter and had been a member of a local quilt guild. Debbie’s greatest joy was being a mother and Grammy. She devoted her life to her family and they could always count on her to show up for them enthusiastically for every special moment, including ball games, concerts, church, and school functions.

Debbie is survived by her three children, Bryan (Allison) Kirkman of Williamsville, Missouri, Erick (Martha) Kirkman of Poplar Bluff, and Jennifer (Brandy Peeples) Kirkman of Myersville, Maryland; five grandchildren, Wyatt (Hailey) Kirkman, Ethan Kirkman, Morgan Kirkman, Olivia Kirkman and Addison Kirkman; two great-grandchildren, Hadley and Camrie Kirkman; and three siblings, Wilma Badgley of O’Fallon, Missouri, Kathy Thomas of Poplar Bluff, and Bill (Sharon) Brandt of Nixa, Missouri. In addition to her parents, Debbie was also preceded in death by four siblings: Harold Brandt, Mary Weitlauf, Wayne Brandt and Jerry Brandt.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church sanctuary with Pastor Brandon Spain officiating. Burial will follow at Marble Hill Cemetery in Poplar Bluff. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Matt Thurmon Memorial Scholarship at 2102 Shelby Road Suite 1, Poplar Bluff, MO.
