Robert Tidwell

Hubert Cecil “Bud” Tidwell, 73, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, Dec.18, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Tidwell was born Dec. 28, 1949, to Claude and Carrie Tidwell (née Bausworth) in Tyronza, Arkansas. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bud worked for the United States government as a press operator. He was a die-hard republican and took pride in supporting other veterans and local law enforcement. Bud was also an active American Legion member over the years. He enjoyed going antiquing, collecting “treasures,” and going to casinos.

Bud is survived by his mother:  Carrie Imogene Tidwell of Van Buren, Missouri; one brother:  Roy Tidwell of Festus, Missouri; four sisters:  Clara Kniep of Farmington, Missouri, Betty Morse of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Sharlie Ballew of Doniphan, and Vuanta (Russel) Sterkel of Oregon. Also surviving are 10 nieces and nephews Bud loved as his own children:  Bradley, Kay, Kevin, Christina, Kayla, Sonjia, Branson, Kason, William and Donna; and several great and great-great nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Bud was preceded in death by his father, Claude Tidwell; brother, Dewayne Tidwell; four brothers-in-law, Dewayne Morse, LeRoy Kniep, Kenneth Knight and Howard Ballew; one sister-in-law, Melba Tidwell; and three half siblings:  Cecil, Ray and Lorene. 

There will be a graveside memorial service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
