Venita Monehan, 85, passed away Dec. 3, 2023, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

She leaves behind family and friends grieving over their loss but rejoicing that she is now with her Heavenly Father for all eternity.

Venita was born in Broseley, Missouri, May 10, 1938, to Carl and Maudie Mohr. She was one of six children and grew up and attended school in Broseley. She married the love of her life, William Leon Monehan, in Hernando, Mississippi in 1956.

Venita loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals; she was an avid seamstress and enjoyed cooking and outdoor camping. She retired as a food service assistant from the Poplar Bluff School District after 23 years of service. Throughout the years, she was active in church and was a current member of Little Brown Baptist Church, where she previously served as secretary and treasurer. After retirement, her volunteer positions included serving as an election worker in the local county elections and working in the hospital gift shop. She spent much time with her family and friends.

Venita is survived by family whom she loved dearly: her husband of 67 years, William Leon Monehan; son, Jerry Monehan (Diane) of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Debra Donnellan of Springfield, Missouri; grandson, Jerry Christopher Monehan (Heather) of Chesterfield, Missouri, and granddaughters, Brittany Donnellan Collins (Joseph III), of Alexandria, Virginia, and Bailey Donnellan of Springfield; step-grandson, Danny Worley, step-great-granddaughter Annie Lynn Worley of St. Louis; sisters, Violet Huggins (Everett), and Teresa Moore; and brothers, George Mohr (Linda), and Jim Mohr (Darlene); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Venita was preceded in death by her parents, Maudie (Robinson) Mohr and Carl Mohr; sibling, Bobby Mohr; and grandchild, Tara Monehan.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023. Burial will take place at Ash Hill Cemetery after the service.
