Michael Bouland

Michael Edward Bouland of Dyersburg, Tennessee, formerly of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away Dec. 25, 2022 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Michael was born Aug. 14, 1948 to Lee and Christine Bouland in Paducah.

He taught Speech, English, Oral Interpretation and Children’s Literature at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri for 27 years.

He was generous in spirit, deeds and words. He was a Christian man who saw the good in everyone and enjoyed the beauty of the world around him. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, and buying and selling rare books. He was a great storyteller and writer, and delighted in entertaining family and friends alike with humor and fellowship. Serving God and being with family were his greatest joys.

He is survived by his sister, Sharon Johnston of Caruthersville, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Melissa Bouland of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and Beth Bouland of Huntsville, Alabama; his nieces and nephews, and his furbaby, Rascal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bobby, Billy, Donnie and John, and his sister, Barbara.

He was cremated, and per his request, he will be laid to rest with his sister Sharon on her passing. H.S. Smith Funeral Home handled his arrangements.
