Elaine Woods

Ruth Elaine Woods, 88, of Davenport, Florida, formally of Poplar Bluff, Missouri was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023.

Born Sept. 7, 1934, in Doniphan to Stephen Louis and Martha Kelly York. Elaine grew up in Doniphan until the family moved to Poplar Bluff in 1951. She attended and graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1952 and worked as an accountant/bookkeeper at the State Bank for three years.

Elaine’s life took a special turn when she met the love of her life at a youth church party Oct. 31, 1952, and married Paul Edward “Ridge Runner” Woods Oct. 31, 1954. She was active in the West Side Church in Poplar Bluff until she moved to Florida in 2019. She found joy in gardening, music, painting, writing poetry and making hand-made greeting cards.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Martha; husband, Paul Woods; son, Douglas Woods; and daughter, Paula Kay Woods Tibbs. She leaves behind son, Michael Woods; three siblings, Evelyn Nickolson- Yancey, Louis York and Marilyn Rohrer; son-in-law, Ron Tibbs; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Her absence leaves a void that will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be from 12:30 - 1 p.m. Oct. 13, 2023 at the West Side Church, 2807 Channon Drive, Poplar Bluff, with service immediately following.
