Kelly Boyers

Wednesday, September 13, 2023

Kelly Dale Boyers, 85, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on the morning of Sept. 13, 2023.

Mr. Boyers was born on March 7, 1938, at Coon Island, Neelyville, Missouri to the late Ira and Clelah (Loge) Boyers. He was raised in Poplar Bluff and was a 1956 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School.

On June 24, 1961, he married Judith Mae (Selvidge) Boyers (she survives). They attended First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.

In his earlier years, Kelly worked as a lineman for Lyndell Coleman, Poplar Bluff Municipal Utilities, and approximately 25 years for Ameren Electric, until retirement. He made many friends along the way.

He continued working on his farm until his death. He enjoyed baling hay, raising cattle and horses, and caring for the land. However, one of his greatest joys was having all his family with him whenever there were chores to do, such as caring for the livestock, putting up hay for feed, riding horses, for working or pleasure, fixing fences and small chores around the barn. He wanted his children, grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, including babies, present to teach them how to work. He enjoyed deer camp, meals and visiting with family and friends. Kelly never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by Kate Hamilton, sister; Georgia (Jo) Casinger, sister: Alice Ellis, sister; Faye Sisk, sister; John Frank Boyers, brother; and Ira Auburn Boyers, brother.

He is survived by three children: Randy (Terri) Reece of El Granada, California, Derek (Donna) Boyers and Rhonda (Rodger Willams) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; brother: R.J. (Donna) Boyers of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; five grandchildren: Matt (Brittany) Boyers of Gentry, Arkansas, Amber (Trey) Windhorst of Fisk, Missouri, Abigale (Allen) Loftis of Ellsinore, Missouri, Sam (Elizabeth) Roth and Jacob (Marjorie) Roth of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and 10 great-grandchildren: Addison, Connor, and Garrett Boyers, Ollivia, Piper, and Ollie Windhorst IV; Colt, Tate and Kipp Loftis, and Ernest Schoenrock-Rossiter.

Visitation will be held at Cottrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Funeral services will immediately follow, beginning at 1 p.m. with burial at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
