Victim safe after possible abduction reported Wednesday morning

UPDATE 3:20 P.M. Wednesday

Poplar Bluff Police Chief Mike McClain confirmed an incident at McLane Park Wednesday morning, which was called in as a potential abduction, did not involve a child.


The victim in a Wednesday morning incident is now safe, according to Poplar Bluff police.

An individual was held against his will, but is fine now, said McClain.

Police are still working through available information to develop leads, he said.


A call went out at 9 a.m. Wednesday to law enforcement in Troop E regarding a vehicle related to a possible abduction.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers are to be on the look out for a white U-Haul van, according to dispatchers. It was reported seen at 8:26 a.m. at McLane Park in Poplar Bluff.

Dispatchers said individual or individuals were possibly armed, but it was unknown how many individuals may be in the vehicle.

No additional information was available as of 9:15 a.m. Wednesday. This is an evolving story and will be updated as information becomes available.
