Poplar Bluff firefighter Travis Taylor hoists an American flag on his shoulder on Sept. 11 every year and runs between Poplar Bluff fire stations. He said he is paying tribute to fallen New York City firefighters who died on 9/11.

“I always run to remember those guys (firefighters) that ran into the Twin Towers,” he said while pausing for a break Monday morning during his run through Poplar Bluff. As a local firefighter, this is my remembrance to them.”

His run includes a route through the city from Fire Station Three to Fire Station One and then to Fire Station Two on what he calls the route to remember the fallen.

“A lot of the firefighters do the stair climbs,” Taylor said. “But this is why I do it, to remind local people, not to forget this day.”

Taylor has been a firefighter for 23 years.
