Maxine King Joy

Maxine Virginia King Joy, 90, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Joy was born on June 11, 1933, in Naylor, Missouri. She had worked as a cosmetology instructor and enjoyed flowers, shopping, doing hair, her pets, and spending time with grandchildren.

Maxine married Harvey King. He precedes her in death. Later she married Robert Joy. He also precedes her in death.

Maxine is survived by her children, Julita Michel and husband Marty, Larry Harris and wife Evelyn, and Harvey King and wife Isin; three grandchildren, Melissa, Tabitha and Danica; as well as two great-grandchildren, Holden and Ellie.

Besides her husbands, Maxine is preceded in death by two children, Billy King and Sharon Barker; her parents, George and Ellen Owens; sisters, Edna Wilkerson, Minnie Taylor, Elizabeth Davis, Rosie Rice, Mary Arnold and Maxalenia Owens; brother, Homer Owens; and stepbrother, Lloyd Robinson.

Visitation took place from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at the Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. The funeral was at at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, in the chapel with Pastor Donnie Emmons. The graveside will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at 10 a.m.
