Bobby Jenkins

Bobby Duane Jenkins, 84, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his three children Shawn Jenkins, Debra Jenkins, both of Poplar Bluff, and Robert Jenkins of Florida the evening of Sept. 3, 2023.

Bobby was a 1958 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School where he played football serving as one of the captains for that season. The Mules 1957 record of 9-1 is still one of best seasons in school history led by his coach and later friend Clarence “Dutch” Wyatt.

When he was not working Bobby loved spending time with his friends. He also enjoyed being outside and would always be known to fire up the grill for steaks on a nice summer day. When inside he could always be found watching sports or a classic Western movie.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Winifred M. Jenkins; father, Glenn D. Jenkins; sister, Glenda Unsell; brother-in-law, Don Taylor; sister-in-law, Cathy Jenkins; and his dog, Susie.

He is served by his two granddaughters, Jennifer and Samantha Jenkins of Florida; sisters, Melva Taylor of Georgia, Sandi and Ron Webster of Texas; brother, Dean Jenkins of Ohio, and many nephews and nieces.

The family will have a private family burial later.
