J R Brown

J R Brown, 92, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Brown was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Fisk, Missouri, to the late Ralph and Genettie Brown. He was raised and went to school in Broseley. On Jan. 21, 1951, he married Eva Mae Smith Brown. They were members of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. J R and Eva both spent their entire careers at Snider’s IGA. They were married over 69 years when she preceded him in death Feb. 2, 2020.

They were blessed with a beautiful family and had two children: Debra Kaye Reeves and husband, Bill, of Farmington, Missouri, and James Rodney Brown and wife, Brenda, of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren: Emily Ponath and husband Jeff, Zach Brown, and Parker Davidson, all of St. Louis, Tyler and Bailey Davidson of Poplar Bluff; and one sister: Vida Snider of Poplar Bluff. In addition to his parents and wife, J R was also preceded in death by two siblings.

A celebration of life will be held from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at Kinyon Event Center in Poplar Bluff.
