Shirley K. Harpool, 74, beloved wife of David M. Harpool of Ansonia, Connecticut died peacefully Sept. 3, 2023, in the comfort of her home, with her family by her side.

Born in Pontiac, Michigan, July 6, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Arvel and Iona Wiley Billington. Mrs. Harpool was raised in Ellsinore, Missouri. She was a proud U.S. Marine, serving as a stenographer and receptionist at the Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base, 29 Palms, California, where she attained the rank of Lance Corporal. Following her military service, she graduated from Chemeketa College with an Associate Degree in Journalism. She was a successful commercial real estate agent for over 20 years and obtained a leadership position in the professional commercial organization CCIM.

In addition to her husband of 54 years, Mrs. Harpool is survived by her dear children, Michael Harpool and his wife Robin of Georgia and Sharri Lungarini and her husband, David, of Ansonia; brothers, Arvel Billington and his wife, Joyce, and Hardy Billington and his wife, Diane, all of Missouri; cherished grandchildren, Alex Locascio and his wife, Olivia, of Georgia, Salvatore Locascio and his spouse, Soo-yoon, of Korea, and Wyatt Lungarini of Ansonia; great-grandchildren, Alex Locasio, Jr. and Maximus Locasio, both of Georgia, devoted family, Everett and Mary Lee Payton, Fred Payton, Kathy Payton Ham, and Jo Ann Payton Talbott, all of Oregon. She was predeceased by a sister, Sharon Beeson and a brother, Everett Lee Payton.

Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services, meeting directly at church, will be held oat 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept 13, 2023, in the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 33 Center Road, Woodbridge. Interment with Military Honors will directly follow at the CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
