Norma Daniel

Norma Gean Daniel, 92, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Daniel was born April 24, 1931, in Rombauer, Missouri, daughter of the late McCoy and Hattie Wells (née Mattingly).

She was proud of her teaching career which began in Fisk at Twin Rivers School. She then went on to teach at Sears Youth Center in Poplar Bluff for nearly 20 years. Norma was a Christian and a longtime member of Logan Creek General Baptist Church in Doniphan. She loved to sew and quilt, and she especially enjoyed making clothing for her grandchildren.

Norma is survived by two children: Howard Ray “Skip” (Glenda) Daniel and Shirley (Terry) Dixon, both of Doniphan; three grandchildren: Sharman Chabot of Bigfork, Montana, Sarah Schmitt of Richland, Washington, and Christopher Schmitt of Poplar Bluff; and three great-grandchildren: McCoy and Tristyn Chabot, and Zeb Schmitt.

In addition to her parents, Norma was also preceded in death by two siblings: Vina Belle Hammonds and James Morgan Wells.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Shain Memorial Cemetery in Fisk.
