RoseMary Groves

RoseMary Groves, 89, passed away peacefully Aug. 17, 2023 at her home in New Milford, Connecticut.

She was born Aug. 26, 1933 to Charles and Freeda (Corder) Haynes in Bernie, Missouri.

RoseMary was a loving mother and grandmother. With her former husband, she developed a love of travel, when as an Army wife she traveled the world with her family due to numerous military postings. RoseMary was also a dedicated and passionate school teacher, and due to their extensive postings, taught at over 20 schools. She impacted the lives of countless first and second graders and considered them all ‘her kids’.

Rose leaves behind her children: Daughter, Deborah McGrath (Kieran) of New Milford, Connecticut and two sons, John Michael Groves (Donna Gayle) of Texas and Mark Groves (Victoria) of Oklahoma. She leaves her grandchildren: Stephen, Landon, Brian, Sean and Brendan, and great-grandchildren: Rory, Joseph and James. She is survived by a sister Carolyn Young of Texas as well as Ruthie, Butch, and Michael Haynes of Missouri.

She is predeceased by her parents, brother, William Haynes and sister, Winona Burrow.

Visitation for RoseMary will be held at Landess Funeral Home and Crematory in Malden, Missouri, from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25. A memorial service will be held at Bethany General Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, with Pastor Bryan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery.

Children were a part of all aspects of her life and therefore in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Children’s Home. (BaptistChildrensHome.org)
