Willard Brown

Willard “Willie” Ray Brown, 83, of Qulin, Missouri, formerly of Wayne County, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at Campbell Healthcare and Senior Living.

He was born Jan. 21, 1940, in Carter County to the late Owen “Richard” and Zelma Eva (Smith) Brown. Willie was a loving and devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a high school graduate from Ellsinore.

He proudly served in the United States Navy. Willie married the love of his life, Nyoika Sence, March 15, 1969.

He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and traveling, especially to Texas. Willie also enjoyed working on his farm.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Willie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years; sisters: Edith Littrell of Annapolis, Betty Clyburn and husband, Larry, of Ellsinore, Barbara Rischer of Annapolis; many nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends. Willie will be missed by his family and friends.

Visitation was held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral Service followed at 1 p.m., also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Burial was in Carson Hill Cemetery, near Mill Spring, with full military honors provided by the United States Navy and the American Legion Post 281 of Piedmont.
