Cleta Elmina Laughlin, 95, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Laughlin was born April 24, 1928, in Poplar Bluff, daughter of the late Samuel G. and Myrtle Hamm. She was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of Agee Fellowship in Poplar Bluff. Cleta owned and operated a restaurant in her husband’s service station for several years. She was also a homemaker and cherished her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was very generous and had a heart for helping others. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On Sept. 9, 1944, she married Lawrence Laughlin. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2004, after 59 years of marriage.

She is survived by three daughters: Linda (Steve) Seematter of Poplar Bluff; Lois (Rick) Green of Sikeston, and Karen (Reggie) Darnell of Poplar Bluff; son-in-law: Wendell Heady of Englewood, Florida; 11 grandchildren: Craig Seematter, Christy Dupré, Melanie Montes, Jeremy Green, Justin Darnell, Rebecca Allen, Calvin, Michael, and Jim Heady, Jeannie Albright, and Mary Heady; 18 great-grandchildren: Caleb and Brooklyn Seematter, Madison and Meghan Dupré, Analiese, Grace, and Andrew Montes, Hope and Bella Green, Daniel, Noah, and Jacob Darnell, Tait, Caedmon, and Rosalie Allen, Stephanie Dougherty, Bobby Heady, and Christopher Hudson; and many great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Rosemary (Gerald) Smith of Poplar Bluff; sister in law: Irene Hamm of Poplar Bluff; In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter: Kathleen Heady; one grandson: Randall Heady; two brothers: Arnold and Don Hamm.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2023, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev Jim Sanders and Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
