Enjoy classic cars, swim contests

Enjoy live music and classic cars Friday, before the Splash N Dash challenge on Saturday in this week’s MAIN EVENT.

Downtown Poplar Bluff will host this month’s Cruise In event, starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday on Vine Street. Haffy’s Sports Bar & Grill will host live music from the band Nuthin’ Fancy. Sponsored by the city of Poplar Bluff and Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation, activities will go to 9 p.m. with food and drinks.

The park department also plays host Saturday to our second event of the weekend, the Splash N Dash.

Check in starts at 7:30 a.m. with activities kicking off at 8 a.m. Registration must have been completed by Monday to participate.

The competition includes a 300-meter swim and a 5K run. First place medals will be awarded in each age group.

— FRSHWATR Worship Night, 7-9 p.m. July 14. WHERE Historic Rodgers Theatre. COST Free. WHAT A night of worship for all people. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the night beginning at 7 p.m. Expect to be uplifted and encouraged with other believers from across the community. All concession stand proceeds go to supporting the Rodgers Theatre. All ages are welcome.

— Art for Animals online auction opens, July 15. WHERE Pieces are on display at the Margaret Harwell Art Museum, bidding is online at biddingowl.com. WHAT This online fundraiser benefits the Animal Welfare Alliance and runs through July 28. More information is available at awasemo.org and artfullyframed.com.

— St. Jude Summer Bash, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. July 15 WHERE Lemonade House Grille WHAT The fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital will include a cruise in, bounce house, lemon squeeze-off, face painting, dunking booth and more.

— Trey Clevenger live, 6-8 p.m. July 15 WHERE Green Oasis

— Lego Challenge, 10:30 a.m.-noon July 17. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, Main Branch. COST Free. WHAT Come to the library to build and create. Drop in at the Main Branch to do one of their Lego challenges or create your own.

WHAT The Three Rivers College Rodeo Team and Farm Credit Southeast Missouri present an action-packed evening of bull riding. Bounce houses and food trucks will also be on site.
