Glenna Sue Lynxwiler, 81-year-old resident of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Saturday, June 24, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

She was born Dec. 16, 1941, in Bardley, Missouri, to the late James Roy and Norma Geraldine (Snodgrass) Mathis.

Soft-hearted and loving, Sue was always thinking of and helping other people. She greeted those she met with a warm smile and took time to join in friendly conversation. Sue was family-focused and close to her family. Even extended family and friends felt cherished with her warm and loving nature. Sue was a loving and devoted wife and mother to Floyd and Steven, and doting grandmother to Lilly and Lila, and wonderful sister. Sue’s love and care was also extended to plants which would abound and flourish under her care. Above all, Sue was a Godly woman and saint. She was a member of the Doniphan Church of Christ.

Sue worked alongside her husband for many years as they were owners of many of Doniphan’s businesses, including working in real estate, building and operating Hobo’s Campground, working as a bank teller at Mercantile, and their restaurant, The Jon Boat.

On Dec. 16, 1962, Sue married Floyd Bridges Lynxwiler at the Ponder Church of Christ. He preceded her in death Aug. 21, 2022. She was also preceded by a sister, Letha Holland, and brother, Willard Mathis.

Surviving is her son, Steven (Jill) Lynxwiler of Ellsinore, Missouri; sisters, Marilyn (Wayne) Rush of Doniphan and Pam (David) Bradley of St. Charles; sisters-in-law, Irvene Glass of Cape Girardeau and Paulette Barnett of Marion, Illinois; brothers, Larry (Carol) Mathis, Gary (Sara) Mathis, and Lonnie Mathis, all of Doniphan; brother-in-law, Doyne Holland of Augustine, Florida; and two granddaughters, Lilly and Lila Lynxwiler.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, June 28, 2023, beginning at 10 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at noon. Brother Steve Sanders will be officiating, and burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to Christian Family Services, Inc., Adoption Division, 7955 Big Bend Blvd, Webster Groves, MO 63119.
