Tim Davis, 63, of Poplar Bluff passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Methodist Hospice Residential Care Center, in Memphis, Tennessee, after an extended illness.

Tim is remembered by his family and friends for his warmth, humor and wit. His son, Trey, and daughter, Lacy, who he was very proud of, brought him immense joy. Later in life, he loved spending time with and being “Pop” to his five grandchildren. Tim enjoyed reading his Bible, being outdoors, and playing and listening to country and bluegrass music.

Mr. Davis was born Jan. 16, 1960, in Kennett, Missouri, to Glenn “Dale” and Carol Brooks Davis.

Tim was raised in southeast Missouri and attended both the Kennett and Poplar Bluff school systems. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School and earned an Associate's degree from Three Rivers College.

He came from a law enforcement family that spanned several decades in southeast Missouri, which included a father, brother and several uncles. Tim joined the Poplar Bluff Police Department around 1981 as a patrolman and he later became a detective. His work focused on crime scene investigation, where he was involved in some high profile cases over the years. This includes solving two cold case murders, one of which was profiled on national television after the Missouri Supreme Court upheld the conviction obtained at trial. Tim was recognized at different times in his career for exceptional service and, as president, he presided over a chapter of an international crime investigator's association. He was an instructor and taught for many years at a regional law enforcement academy. Additionally, upon retirement from PBPD, Tim worked for the Butler County Sheriff's Department for 10 years as an investigator.

Tim was a Christian and member of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff for almost 50 years, having joined there in 1976. He was a modest and humble person that knew who his redeemer was and where his help in life came from.

Survivors include his son, Trey Davis (wife Megan) and daughter, Lacy Caprario (husband Dan); grandchildren: Ellie, Noah, Henry, Calvin, and Dominic; mother, Carol Brooks; identical twin brother, Steve Davis (wife Donna); brother, Jon Paul Davis; aunt, Barbara Allen; nephews, Mitchell and Matthew Davis; and stepmother, Patsy Davis

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his father, Glenn “Dale” Davis.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
