Donald Thomas

Donald Thomas, 79, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Thursday, June 15, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Thomas was born April 19, 1944 in Poplar Bluff, son of the late Delbert and Pearl Thomas. He served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1965. On Sept. 15, 1962, he married the love of his life, Frances Lee Allen Thomas, in Kokoma, Indiana. She preceded him in death July 8, 2022. Donald pastored several Southern Baptist Churches in the area until his health declined. He was a house parent for Willhaven Residential Complex for over 30 years until it closed. He had also worked at Somewhere in Time flea market until it closed. Don was an amazing carpenter that could build anything.

He is survived by two sons: Travis Thomas of Poplar Bluff, and Troy (Holly) Thomas of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; one grandson: Christopher Thomas; one great-granddaughter: Savannah Elizabeth Thomas; one sister: Shirley Essary of Poplar Bluff, and two brothers: D. L. (Imogene) Thomas of Poplar Bluff, and Gary (Sandra) Thomas of Portageville, Missouri.

Visitation will begin at noon Monday, June 19, 2023 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Jamie Jones officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
