The 13th annual Super Kids Camp, sponsored by the Succeeding in School committee, is gearing up for another summer session. The camp invites parents and guardians to register their children at the Historic Wheatley School located at 921 Garfield St.

Registration for the free camp will be open from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 27. The camp itself will have sessions from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays beginning Thursday, July 6, through Friday, July 28.

Super Kids Camp, according to organizer Kathern Harris, is dedicated to creating an enriching environment for children, offering a wide range of activities that include sports, arts and crafts, team-building exercises and educational workshops.

This year, Dr. Kevin Harris from Nashville’s Stillman College will be back to provide further instruction in a robotics class. Participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy Knavas Bounce House and a water slide, as well as yoga, art and instrumental music instruction. Jo Nell Seifert, a retired Poplar Bluff High School theater instructor, will also offer drama classes for kids.

“This is my third year to help the kids. They are delightful, creative, attentive and always eager to learn,” said Seifert, who also went on to say she felt Harris was a treasure for all the work she does for kids and the community alike.

The Super Kids Camp program, according to Harris, is proud to partner with the local Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, which will host a visit from Marty the Magician. Attendees will also have the chance to listen to speakers from the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge during the camp.

Super Kids Camp focuses on continuing education and provides age-specific activities for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. For more information, please contact 573-776-5073.
