Scotty Allen Selvidge of McKinney, Texas passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, in McKinney at the age of 63.

He was born to Carl and Gloria (Ramsey) Selvidge Dec. 2, 1959, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

As a young man Scott worked for veterinarians, farmers and was a lifeguard.  His father was a career Air Force veteran who had a TV shop while stationed in Florida and Scott worked with him to help troubleshoot and repair TV’s.  Scott graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1978. Following graduation, he went on to join the United States Air Force where he was a Missile Control Specialist attaining the rank of Sergeant.

After his military service he became a network engineer.  He spent several years as part of the team that built the NASDAQ stock exchange.  After leaving NASDAQ he worked in the budding wireless communication industry and completed his career at Experian Information Systems for the last 15 years.

Scott had many hobbies and interests.  During high school he actively competed in rodeos as a bull rider throughout Missouri and was in the 1978 Missouri High School Rodeo finals.  Later in life he was an endurance horse rider and loved his horse Express.  An avid outdoorsman, he spent many hours hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed golf, snow skiing and travel.  He loved to swim in his pool while firing something on the grill surrounded by friends and family. Scott was extremely proud of his military service and a true patriot who loved his country.

Scott will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his straightforward demeanor, and the love he had for his family. He will have a final resting place in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Scott is survived by his wife, Debbie Selvidge of McKinney, Texas; children, Rebecca Visconti (Mike Milosevich) of Coppell, Texas, Robert Selvidge of McKinney, Texas, Jennifer Wendeborn (Alex) of Spring, Texas, and Kathryn Davis (Daniel) of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Annabelle, Fintan, Jeza, Sameer, Franklin, Vincent, and Avery; sisters, Christy Fisher (Jef) of Enterprise, Alabama and Poppy Norden of Poplar Bluff.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gloria Selvidge, and his sister, Suzi Selvidge.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Brian Sharp officiating.
