Rayni Day Miracles, Reese Ainley Foundation offer weekend events

Thursday, June 8, 2023

Two area events in this week’s MAIN EVENT offer the community a chance to enjoy family-friendly fun while supporting non-profits that help families in need after the illness of a child or the loss of a child.

Rayni Day Miracles is hosting a 5K and 1 mile fun run starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at Hendrickson Park. All proceeds go to support the organization, which provides support and activities for children with life-threatening illness. Recent activities include a crafting day held in May for the Miracle Club, and a picnic and egg hunt in April.

The organization was started in 1999 by the family of Rayni Worley, who was diagnosed with severe combined immunodeficiency. Other activities include providing donations to the Ronald McDonald Houses in St. Louis and care packages for parents and children.

For more information, call 573-717-3307.

Also on Saturday, the third annual Reese Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Naylor City Park.

It will offer live music, a silent auction, fish fry, church service, a beauty pageant, bounce houses, a petting zoo and face painting.

Proceeds from Reese Fest will fund the Reese Ainley Foundation, which offers financial relief for local families of children that were taken too soon. It provides free school supplies and hygiene products for the Naylor School District, privately provides resources to underprivileged children in difficult situations and helps families in the community.

The Reese Ainley Foundation was formed after the loss of Ryan and Kristina Ainley’s 3-year-old daughter, Reese Madeline Ainley, in 2019. The goal of the program is to spread love and keep Reese’s name alive with acts of kindness and generosity.
