Revere to permanently shutter Poplar Bluff facility, after supply chain, other issues

Wednesday, May 3, 2023 ~ Updated 4:45 PM

Employees of Revere Plastics Poplar Bluff were notified today the plant would be closing between the end of September and January 2024.

Officials with Revere said it will impact 85 jobs in Poplar Bluff. No other Revere locations are being impacted by closures, according to company officials, and Poplar Bluff workers have been invited to consider relocating to other locations.

The Poplar Bluff location has been in business under different owners since 1969, originally under Moark and then changed hands to Revere in 2001, the company reported.

Over the last five years, Revere has taken many actions to achieve its strategy of diversifying and growing the business, Chief Executive Officer Glen Fish wrote in a letter given today to workers.

“Throughout this period, however, there have been many macro challenges outside our control like COVID, resin supply shortages, and customer supply chain disruptions,” Fish said. “Since these macro challenges have begun to stabilize in 2023, it is necessary for Revere to evaluate the ideal manufacturing footprint to optimize service to our customers and streamline our operations.”

The decision was made to permanently close the Poplar Bluff facility. Revere Plastics in Poplar Bluff, according to the company website, has provided products including: fuel tanks; engine rewinds; power tool housing; small appliance components; and medical components.

The company said it will begin finalizing timelines with customers over the next several weeks.

“The HR and local leadership teams will be working with you individually to explain how long your services will be needed and the benefits that will be provided to you throughout this process,” Fish told employees. “It is important you know how much we value every member of our team and our closing is made even more difficult by the loss of excellent and loyal employees. I sincerely thank you for all of the work you have done during your time with Poplar Bluff. Our loss will certainly be another’s gain.”

Officials said Revere is filing an official Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, as is required by state and federal law.

“Members of the management will remain available to help you through this transition and will be meeting with each of you in the coming days to discuss this process,” Fish said. “They will discuss the timing and details of your separation, as well as benefits and the local resources available to assist you in finding a new position. We invite you to request letters of recommendation as we wish you nothing but success in your career search.”

Additional information will be updated online and in the Daily American Republic print editions as it becomes available.

Headquartered in Novi, Michigan, Revere reports it has more than 50 years of experience in plastics and manufacturing.

For over the past 25 years, Revere Plastics Systems has remained in the top 100 plastic injection molders with presses ranging from 25-3,300 tons, the company has reported. Across locations in Michigan, Alabama, Iowa, Ohio, Kansas, Indiana, Canada and Mexico, the company shared it has 1,200 people in manufacturing.
